This is Ainsley doing her homework.

Exposure 1/500 sec at f/ 2.8
Focal Length 50mm
ISO 400
Flash did not fire
Lightroom Post Production: General – Punch

I really love the one of Ainsley holding the pen to her face, but I was not prepared for her movement and did not readjust the focal point off her front fingers that slipped out of the picture.  This is the hard part of photographing your own children, while helping them with their homework, while trying to catch the moment.  It passes too quickly and life moves on.  That is a big reason I want to be a better photographer so I can capture those quick moments and be confident in my camera skills and not miss the moment because of the camera concentration and readjustment time.

I really like this series. I like her concentrated expression and the shallow DOF. A great depiction of homework time. To me they seem a little underexposed and the colors could be a little more saturated but overall excellent.

I love the look on her face! Something so sweet about that look of determination!

Nice shot! My kids would be to busy looking at me :)
I think I’d like to see the focus on the pen hitting paper and not on her fingers on the opposite hand, what do you think?
